Availability: Will vary as days, evenings, over-nights nights and/or weekends
As a Respite Worker You will:
- Provide residential support to Individual/s in their homes ensuring that all needs are met to the best of their ability,
- Provide services in accordance with Loramar Services Ltd. policies pertaining to service delivery and Persons with Developmental Disabilities including but no limited to Creating Excellence Together Standards, PDD Abuse Reporting Protocol, the Protection of Person in Care Act, The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act,
- Communicate with others by e-mail, phone, documentation, remotely and in-person,
- Support the Individual/s in achieving their goals,
- Report accurately any incidents and/or concerns (e.g. accidents , illness, medical or legal needs),
- Provide support to the individual to meaningful participation in their local community such as but not limited to recreational and leisure activities,
- Monitor and /or administer medications as required,
- Ensure the safety of the Individual in other environments,
- Arrange and/or assist with transportation as required,
- Comply with all relevant federal, provincial and municipal legislation, regulations and bylaws,
- At the Respite worker’s own expense to obtain, maintain and provide proof of all necessary security clearances (including vulnerable sector check), auto liability insurance and necessary training for this role,
An Ideal Candidate You Possess:
- MANDATORY - Three (3) years of experience working with persons with developmental disabilities
- Minimum Grade 12 or Diploma/Degree in Disabilities Studies, Social Work, Human Services, Special Education or equivalent
- Must have valid Class 5 Driver License with clear driving abstract and reliable transportation
- Clear criminal record check and social services involvement check
- A positive attitude and belief that persons with disabilities have the right / responsibility to define and pursue their life choices, and pursue active participation and involvement in the community,
- Skills in assisting Individuals with personal care routines,
- First Aid/CPR Certification
- Crisis Prevention Intervention, Medication Administration, Abuse Protocol, Proactive Procedures and Behavioural Strategies, Foundations and Disabilities Training
- Knowledge of basic health and safety rules and guidelines for personal health and safety, as appropriate,
- MUST have current vaccination proof for COVID 19.
